Google Assistant offers voice commands, voice searching, and voice-activated device control, letting you complete a number of tasks after you've said the "OK Google" or "Hey, Google" wake words. It is designed to give you conversational interactions.

How Google Assistant works?

  • Continued Conversation means you don't have to say "Hey Google" for follow-up requests. Instead, once you've started talking to Google, it listens for a response without needing a trigger phrase all the time.
  • You can also ask for multiple things at the same time.
  • Google Assistant knows you and understands context, it will react in an informed or smart way. That's important as it gives voice control a lot more power and moves it on from only reacting to specific phrases or commands.
  • you can ask Google Assistant to help you conduct a conversation in dozens of languages.
  • Eg. say "Hey Google, be my Spanish interpreter" to start Interpreter Mode and get real time spoken and written translation to aid the conversation.

Send a Whatsapp:

As well as being able to send a text message, Google Assistant can also connect to your WhatsApp. Stay connected with your loved ones by sending them a text or voice message on WhatsApp without having to physically open the app. Simply say “OK, Google, send WhatsApp message to (persons name in your WhatsApp contact)” or “OK, Google, send WhatsApp voice message to (persons name in your WhatsApp contact)”.

Remember things:

In today’s world, it can sometimes be hard to keep track of the small things, but it’s pretty simple for Google Assistant to keep on track for you. Want to remind yourself where you left your car keys? Just say “OK Google, remind me that my car keys are on the kitchen table”. Then simply, ask Google where you left your car keys.

Ask for help:

You can use the Google Assistant to ask for information and help with everyday tasks. From wondering how the traffic is on your way to work, or using it as a dictionary, there are so many things the Google Assistant can help with. For ideas about what your Assistant can help with, ask “What can you do?”.

Play a game:

Wanting to play a game but not sure what to do? Turn to your Google Assistant for some entertainment. Tell the virtual assistant “I’m bored” and it can tell you corny jokes or even ask to play a game like “Tic-tac-toe”, “Lucky Trivia” or “Crystal Ball”. It’s a great fun way to pass the time.

Work out a calculation:

Sometimes, fumbling around with your smartphone trying to open the calculator app can be time-consuming. So, why not use your Google Assistant to help you with a calculation? Simply say “OK Google, tell me what is 12 x 32”, and it’ll reply with the answer.

Play your favourite music:

Listening to music should be easy. Which is where the Google Assistant comes in. Play your favourite music for whatever the occasion, hands-free. Simply ask “OK, Google, play Snow by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on Spotify”.

Get the latest news:

With the Google Assistant, you can listen to top headlines, local news in your area, or get the latest on a certain category of news (like sports). When choosing to listen to news reports or headlines you can ask “OK, Google, tell me the news” or “What’s the latest in sports?”.

Why Google Assistant is better than other Assistant like siri and Alexa ??

Google Assistant is very impressive. It can handle multiple queries at once, personalised results by recognising a voice profile and it has the power of Google search behind it, making it very accurate. The wake words aren't very personal though, it isn't compatible with as many apps and services as Alexa and it isn't as funny as Siri.

Amazon Alexa isn't as dynamic as Google Assistant, or as smart, but it is compatible with hundreds of thousands of services and apps, the Alexa wake word is personal and customisable and it has features like Alexa Calling.

Apple's siri is by far the wittiest of the personal assistants, the one that allows you to speak the most naturally and it offers features like siri shortcuts make getting things done quick and easy, but it is tied into Apple devices and it offers less compatibility with apps and services compared to Alexa and Google Assistant.

Each personal assistant has its pros and cons. If you want the smartest, you'll want a device with Google Assistant. If you want the most compatibility with apps and services, you'll want a device with alexa.
